The Columbus Maennerchor
Was founded in 1848 as a men's chorus by 12 German Immigrants eager to preserve the music and memories of their homeland, here; in the chosen land. Through the years, a women's chorus, Damenchor and a children's chorus, Kinderchor as well as many social events and a German Restaurant have been added to the club.

California rocker Chuck Prophet is making the long trip from San Francisco for a rare solo appearance at the Columbus Maennerchor, 966 South High Street, this Saturday night, July 31. The doors will open at 7:30 PM, the show will begin at 8 and tickets will be available for $25 at the door, or by replying to this e-mail or calling (614) 462-2636(o) or (614) 222-0999(o).
This is Chuck's second visit to the Maennerchor, having opened our 2009 series with what was then his first solo appearance in over three years. That night, Chuck hit the stage, surveyed the Music Fans (which looked a little older than his usual fan base) and said something to the effect of "This is the best looking PTA meeting I've seen in awhile!" He then proceeded to wow the crowd with a long set of music from his 20 plus years of great CDs, showing why he's been a critics' favorite over that time span and built a solid fan base around the country.
Saturday night, Chuck will once again do one long set, probably hitting the stage around 8:45 or shortly thereafter. We don't usually do opening acts, but, this week, at Chuck's request, we are going to make an exception and introduce the Music Fans to a fine young singer-songwriter from Oberlin, Andy Cook, who will do a 25 minute or so opener. Andy comes highly recommended from Cindy Barber, who runs the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland (a great venue, by the way, and the usual Cleveland stop for artistes who are doing multiple dates when they hit the Maennerchor), and a quick listen on MySpace suggests he's a good one.
So, Music Fans, one last summertime plea. If you don't have tickets for Saturday night, there are plenty available, so come on down to the Maennerchor, grab a cold beverage of choice and cool off while listening to some hot music from Chuck Prophet. If you do have tickets, drag along a few others and help build the crowd. Guaranteed, it will be another great show!
Thanks....

Kristen Eubanks, and her band Smoke-n-Mirrors, are becoming a regular sight at the Columbus Maennerchor. Her show of Jazz and Blues music is sure to make your Friday night sing. Besides her performances in the Maennerchor Restaurant, Kristen has most recently performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra under Guest Conductor, Matt Catingub, at the Women's Fund of Central Ohio Keyholders Tribute, and with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra with Guest Performer Bobby Flloyd. And, soon, there will be a CD released with the OSU Marching Band, under the direction of Jon Woods, reprising her strong performance of "As Time Goes By", from the 2008 OSU-Michigan game. We are proud that the Maennerchor can headline such a prominent musician.
Beginning in August, she is going to be playing the restaurant on the first and third Fridays. The cover charge for Maennerchor members is $5.00, and $6.00 for non-members. We hope to see you at the show!
